The first is on a card. I think this one is pretty easy and it is good for a single.
But since I am in a good mood, base runners advance 2 bases on the single for whomever correctly guesses this softball of a sig.
The second Auto this week is on a baseball.
I think this one is tougher and it is good for a Triple.
And here is the bonus which is related to the season:
To get the Stolen Base/Walk Bonus guess the card number the cartoon comes from. Whoever gets closest to the number gets the bonus. If somebody picks the exact number, only the first correct answer gets the bonus. The painted over section is the players name - that would have just made the bonus to darn easy.
oh and there is a second bonus to anyone that can pick out the theme between the two Autos.
Here are the current STS! standings

Frank Robinson
ReplyDeleteThe first one is Frank Robinson.
ReplyDeleteThe second one I have no clue.
Card number 215?
Yep Frank Robinson is correct for the easy one. looks like another run for PTBNL. 2 minutes late for dayf.
ReplyDeleteStill waiting some guesses on the toughie, and will keep this open till Tuesday for the bonus.
I can't even make out the first letter on the second auto.
ReplyDeleteDavey Lopes
ReplyDeleteTheme: Players turned Managers
Card #99
Is the second one Davey johnson. The connection is they were both managers? Or is the connection more complex?
ReplyDeleteOh my God it's Dallas Green. Both were managers.

ReplyDeleteIf that's right, Mark beat me to it because I was spending too much time trying to figure out where I know that cartoon from.
#173
Dallas Green is correct.
ReplyDeletePTBNL sweeps the autos. so he is going to end up with another man on third. Well done.
Yep, The two were managers, but it is not the theme that I was looking for - I am looking for something that is a bit more.....abstract.
Found it! It's card #128 (1974 Topps). John Ellis.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea about the connection. I was guessing "both managers" too.
Wow - Night Owl you are correct.
ReplyDelete#128 John Curtis. way to work your way through those vintage cards.
There is a lot of stuff going on in this weeks STS and I am pretty impressed how everybody knocked everything out so quickly.
The theme bonus is odd, but I think somebody will come up with it.
Dallas Green Frank Robinson Reds...red and green for Christmas
ReplyDeletePTBNL is on a hot streak!
ReplyDeleteThat should give you two runs if my scorebook is correct. I will try and get a summary up tomorrow. Very impressive work fellow card bloggers. 4 questions all answered in 1 hour and 22 minutes.
If only I had vintage cards so that I could study cartoons.
