"Winningest manager in Phils history" doesn't really have a lot of competition over the past 100 years.Manuel been "the enabler of mediocrity and poor effort" since 2 weeks before the end of the 2011 season. (You remember, they clinched the division, mailed it in for a week, and haven't been able to "flip the switch" since then, comfortable with excuses like "let's tread water until we get our guys back".)(Casey Stengel won a ton of games for the Yankees, then was fired after a season when his team went to the world series!)It's been time for a new (more accountable) direction for a long time. Seems that Monty put more importance on Charlie getting his 1000th win than in correcting this team's leadership when there was still a meaningful chunk of the season remaining.
